Viñas de Cafayate Wine Resort

We met Malena Mazzoni, General Manager at Viñas de Cafayate Wine Resort to talk about this amazing place in Cafayate, the land of the Torrontés Wine and the amazing Calchaquies Valleys.

 

 

– Hello Malena, thanks for receiving us

– It´s a pleasure Ramiro. Welcome to Viñas de Cafayate Wine Resort

 

– Thank you Malena, the place where the hotel is located is amazing. Where is located the Viñas de Cafayate Wine Resort exactly?

– Well, Viñas de Cafayate Wine Resort is located in Cafayate city, 3 km from the main square. Arrive to our hotel is not a problem, you have to go to route 40 and street 25 de Mayo, as reference you will see Winery Domingo Hermanos: and there turn to the west on the way to the Divisadero and drive straight ahead almost 3 km. The hotel was built in amidst a vineyard plantation at the foot of the impressive San Isidro Hill. We offer a traditional colonial style. When we built the hotel, we prioritized typical local materials such as adobe, cane, clay tiles, stone, etc. So, our guests will enjoy a unique natural environment and comfortable facilities.

 

 

– Excellent. The views of the vineyards are unique

– Yes, our clients find a quiet atmosphere and friendly personalized service and attention. We are a small hotel run by the owners, so it´s a plus. The views of the vineyards are unique. The vineyards you can see produces mainly Torrontes wine, Salta´s famous white wine.

 

– Well, you mentioned the wine. The gastronomy is important for our clients. What can you tell us about this?

– Absolutely,  it´s very important. We have dining options in our Gourmet Restaurant. We offer a salteño-fusion with local products, and also delicious barbecue among vineyards overlooking the magnificent Quebrada de Cafayate. We also have special menues, gluten free, vegetarian, etc.  The restaurant is run by our chef, who offers both international and regional gourmet cuisine. We have an organic garden to supply our kitchen with fresh vegetables. It´s very important for our clients. 

 

 

– Great. And what other services does the hotel offer?

– Well, in addition to our restaurant, we have a wine cellar, especially prepared to host custom wine tastings. The clients can book a special wine tasting during the stay, it´s a unique experience. We have an organic garden to supply our kitchen with fresh vegetables, a spacious living room with stunning views to the east over the vineyards, Cafayate and the valley in the distance. Here you can relax taking a drink, reading beside the great fireplace, playing cards, chess, etc.

 

 

 

– It´s really great Malena…

– Yes, absolutely. We have galleries around a colonial patio where clients can relax. They really enjoy this part of the hotel. Of course we have a room service,  and a wonderful swimming pool and solarium with scenic views hills, gardens, vineyards and Cafayate. We have wellness services too. Viñas de Cafayate Wine Resort offer a Hatha Yoga and Wine program set among vineyards. Outdoor yoga classes within view of the vineyards and the Quebrada de Cafayate ending with a cup of high-altitude Torrontés wine and regional cheeses are one of the preferred activities for people who want to relax and enjoy the unique landscape. It can be booked directly in the hotel. We also offer a relaxing massage sessions, with a 50-minute relaxing massage in your room ending with a cup of high-altitude Torrontés, seasonal fruits and nuts.

 

– Oh well, it´s really amazing. What about the rooms? Have you different categories?

– Yes of course, we have different room categories. All of them with buffet breakfast included and private bathroom with bathtub, heating, air conditioning and safe-desposit box
TV led 32´ and Mini Bar.  Difference is made by the views. We have the standard San Isidro Hill View, the standard Gardens, Vineyard & Cafayate Canyon view, and the superior rooms with queen and king beds.

 

– Good. And what about golf? I see you offer golf for your clients

– Our guests have a special gren fee to play golf in Cafayate. The golf course located in La Estancia de Cafayate includes a driving range with a special three-hole practice facility and a practice green for improving the short game. It´s a 18-hole field, with Par 72. It´s a 7600-yard field from the back tees. 

 

 

 

 – It´s a great plus. So, great gastronomy, unique views, golf… what else?

– The pool among vineyars, and the wellness services. We offer some great options with extra charge: the Hatha Yoga and the Relaxing Massage Session. 

 

– Ok, and how many nights in your opinion, do you suggest staying in Cafayate?

– Well, I think at least three nights. Because the hotel is a highlight itself. A good idea is to use the hotel as the base to visit the Calchaquies Valleys, Cachi,  Molinos, to visit the local vineyards and wineries… Definitely three nights is a great stay. 

 

– I think you receive people from around the world, but what nationality are your passengers mostly?

– We have Argentina´s high season and Europe´s high season: France, Switzerland, UK, Germany. We also have passengers from Brasil.

 

 

 

– Ok, finally, sustainability and environment care is very important in a hotel today. What can you tell us about that?

– Well, we are a green hotel.  In Viñas de Cafayate Wine Resort we use a septic system that separates black and gray water and use the gray water to irrigate the gardens. We use a solar-thermal system to heat the 22 hotel rooms, de developed an organic garden that provides our kitchen with fresh vegetables.  The hotel illuminates 100% of the indoor/outdoor space with LED bulbs.  We also have small habits such as towels policies in our rooms among other green habits that we share with our guests and staff.  In response to all the added packaging waste of hotel minis, we use refillable bottles and organic amenities: without synthetic chemicals, without parabens.
