Are you a kayaking lover? I´m sure you are if you´re reading my article. Well, let me suggest 3 of the best kayaking experiences in Patagonia: Kayak in Perito Moreno Glacier, Kayak in the Marble Cathedral in the Aysen area, and Sea Kayak to Gable Island in Ushuaia.

1 –  Kayaking in Perito Moreno Glacier

The Perito Moreno Kayak experience begins with free exploration. First, you will be able to take in the sights and sounds of the breathtaking sight as you walk through the footbridge and gawk at the incredible viewpoints along the way. Then you will head to Perito Moreno Kayak Experience’s Meeting Point, located near the main parking area, where our team will greet and brief you.

You will be welcomed into Operations Area, where you will get dressed in state-of-the-art gear as our guides give you a rundown as well as an in-depth safety briefing. No past kayaking experience is necessary. The kayak experts will explain how to paddle among the astounding glacial waters.

Once prepared and briefed we depart, with kayaks in hand, to Los Templanos beach. We will paddle down towards the glacier so that it is facing us the whole time. We will stop for our postcard picture moment and learn more fun facts about the fascinating Perito Moreno area in Patagonia.

Do not worry if you have no kayak experience, guides will teach you how to move safely within the astonishing glacial waters. The Full Day Program starts with the picking up at the Calafate Hotels, then the drive (74 Km) to Los Glaciares National Park, arriving at about 9:30.

From 9:30 to 11:00, you have two hours to free explore every corner of Perito Moreno Glacier.

2 – Kayaking in the Marble Cathedral

Patagonia is an amazing place, with beautiful mountain ranges, stunning blue lakes and unharmed forests, but the largest lake in Patagonia is also home to a geologic formation so incredible it’ll make your jaw drop. The marble caves were formed by wave action over the last 6,200 years!

The best place to start this adventure is in the little town of Puerto Rio Tranquilo.  Kayak excursion to the caves is amazing!  The appearance of the caves varies depending on the water level, sunlight, and season. Go in spring when the shallow waters cast a turquoise reflection on the caves, or in summer when glacial run-off creates a deep cerulean blue. Visit early morning or late afternoon and be sure to look down — the rock formations under the water can be just as mesmerizing as those above.

3 – Kayaking the Beagle Channel in Ushuaia: Gable Island

Among the destinations for sea kayaking activity, the Beagle Channel stands out for its landscape and its history. The vast eastern area of the Canal brings us closer to the Atlantic and offers us a sense of freedom and distance from civilization. After just an hour and a half vehicle ride to this region, we might feel as though be have been transported back to the time when the Yamana inhabited the sea at this remote place on the planet.

This is a full-day outing in which we will cross the Fuegian forest along with Route J, far from Ushuaia. The area offers great possibilities to find flocks of seabirds and, a little more at random but often, sea lions.

Gable Island, among other neighboring islands, provides a spectacular backdrop for sea kayaking activity. The net time of paddling in this area isolated from the noise of civilization is more than four hours, and it will be along an irregular coast with deep bays.

Seize the opportunity! Come to explore the East of the Beagle Channel, where the place and the history are almost intact, to find the End of the World.

It´s necessary to make bookings in advance. You can book the Kayaking to Gable Island here or click in the image below
