Enjoy the colors of the amazing Argentinian Northwest!

The Argentinian northwest is a place full of colors, rich culture and unique experiences. Our 7-night tour includes great experinces, arriving to Tucuman, the garden of Argentina. You will enjoy the beautiful capital city and then continue to the north to visit Tafi del Valle, Ruins of the Quilmes Indians, Amaicha del Valle, Abra del Infiernillo, the Quebrada de los Sosa, until arrive to Cafayate, in the heart of the Calchaquies Valleys. Cafayate is a wonderful place where you can taste the typical torrontes wine and visit any of the vineyards and wineries available in the area. We will continue to Salta, visiting the Quebrada del Rio de las Conchas on the way. Once in Salta, you will discover a wonderful city, and enjoy the typical local dishes, like empanadas, tamales, and more! Continue to the Humahuaca Canyon, visiting Purmamarca and the 7-color hill, Tilcara, Huacalera and finally arrive to Jujuy.

DAY 1 - TUCUMAN

Arrival to San Miguel de Tucuman

Arrival to San Miguel de Tucuman, well known as the “Garden of Argentina”. Free time to enjoy the city at your own. Afternoon half day city tour visiting the best of Tucuman!
Overnight.

DAY 2 - TUCUMAN to CAFAYATE

From Tucuman to Cafayate

Departure from San Miguel de Tucumán by route 38 passing through the Jesuit ruins of San José de Lules, through the Quebrada de los Sosa, El Indio, Los Menhires Park, Dique la Angostura, El Mollar, Tafí del Valle, La Banda Jesuit Church, El Infiernillo, Sierras from Quilmes to visit the ruins of the same name, considering one of the largest indigenous centers in Argentina, continuing to Cafayate, located in the heart of the Calchaquies Valleys. Check in and free time to enjoy and relaxing in your hotel.

DAY 3 - CAFAYATE

Visiting Cachi, Molinos and Quebrada de las Flechas

After breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel in Cafayate to visit the town of Molinos. On the way we will enjoy the incredible views of the sharp mountains of the Quebrada de las Flechas.  After two hours of driving, we will arrive at Molinos. In this small town we will see an old 18th century church dedicated to San Pedro Nolasco.  Inside the temple are mummified the remains of the last governor of Salta in times of the old Spanish Empire: Nicolás Isasmendi. We will tell you who this politician and military man was and what relationship he had with the Crown of Castile.

Afterwards, we will return to the minibus and head to Cachi. We will see the church of San José, with a neoclassical aesthetic, and we will leave you an hour free to eat and explore the town. We recommend you visit the Pío Pablo Díaz Archaeological Museum. There, you will be able to know numerous curiosities of the pre-Hispanic culture of the Calchaquí valley. We will say goodbye to Cachi, but before ending the tour we will take a panoramic tour of the Cardones National Park. In it we will contemplate numerous specimens of this arid fauna and we will be able to take photos in incredible viewpoints, such as Cuesta del Obispo or Piedra del Molino. We will end the excursion arriving back at your hotel in Cafayate in the afternoon.

DAY 4 - CAFAYATE to SALTA

Winery and Quebrada del Rio de las Conchas

After breakfast, we will visit a local winery, where the Torrontes is produced. Wine Tasting and then, we leave Cafayate to arrive to Salta, visiting the amazing Quebrada del Rio de las Conchas on the way. You can appreciate the formations created by the wind and water over millions of years (Devil’s Throat, Amphitheater, the Castles, the Parrot House, the Friar, the Windows, the Yesera, the Obelisk, the Toad). Once the tour of the ravine is finished, we will cross the Lerma Valley to arrive in Salta. Check in and free time for relaxing. Check some optional activities available.

DAY 5 - SALTA

City Tour

After breakfast, we will enjoy a city tour visiting the best of Salta. We start in our historic Plaza 9 de Julio, where on the vehicle you can see the Cathedral, the Alta Montaña Archaeological Museum, the Cabildo Historico and the sculpture of Cuchi Leguizamón; continuing our way through the colonial streets of the city, we find the San Francisco Church and the Convent. We ascend to Cerro San Bernardo through the car route in which emotions increase when being able to see the city from the top. We reached the top of the hill with its viewpoints and recreation areas for a free tour. The Monuments to Güemes and February 20 take place, to head towards the Villa de San Lorenzo, where you can see yungas, the castle of San Lorenzo and have a delicious snack in the ravine. The tour ends with a visit to an artisan market where you can do last minute shopping.

DAY 6 - SALT FLATS, PURMAMARCA

Visiting Jujuy Province

After breakfast, we will start a wonderful visit to the Salt Flats (Salinas Grandes) and part of the Humahuaca Canyon.  We leave from the city of Salta to Jujuy, from Jujuy we will begin to visit the towns of Yala, Lozano, León, Volcán (visit the artisan fair), Tumbaya (Church where the Virgin of Punta Corral is received at Easter), Continuing the journey we arrive at Purmamarca – here we have a brief technical stop to be able to walk a bit and begin to acclimatize to the Puna climate. Continuing the journey along a cornice path, crossing the “Cuesta del Lipan” In these places we will have some stops already scheduled to To be able to take photos and live the experience of being above the clouds, we will reach our maximum point (4170 meters above sea level), then we will go down to 3600 meters above sea level to visit the imposing Salinas Grandes (salt cutter, pools and artisans from the place). stay 1 1⁄2 approx., then we will return by the same route but with a different landscape since we will have the sun behind us and the colors of the mountains change their images for this position. Once we arrive in Purmamarca we will have the possibility of having a lunch (optional by the passenger), since it is always advisable to eat once they come down from the Puna. (We will visit the Church of the People, The Hill of 7 Colors and the unmissable Paseo de los Colorados).

 

 

DIA 7 - PURMAMARCA - HUMAHUACA CANYON

Visiting the Humahuaca Canyon

After breakfast, free time to enjoy the small village of Purmamarca and the local fair, or take a full day excursion to Iruya – Hornocal Viewpoint, or take a trekking or Mountain Bike journey. Check with us for the optional activities.

DAY 8 - JUJUY

From Purmamarca to Jujuy

After breakfast, free time until transfer to Jujuy Airport
