Itinerary

Day 1

SALTA: Arrival to the argentinian northwest

Arrive in Salta, a key gateway to exploring the attractions of Argentina’s northwest. As one of the country’s major cities and the 7th most populous with around 600,000 residents, Salta is nestled in the Lerma Valley and serves as a hub for regional sightseeing. Known as “Salta la Linda” (“Salta the Beautiful”), the city is celebrated for its colonial architecture, friendly atmosphere, excellent weather, and stunning natural scenery.
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy some free time to explore the city at your own pace. Feel free to add some of our optional activities listed below.

Day 2

HUMAHUACA CANYON: Unesco World Heritage

After breakfast, embark on one of the region’s most significant excursions: the Humahuaca Canyon. This rugged yet vibrant landscape features strikingly colorful mountains and a network of dry, river-carved canyons surrounded by sedimentary strata eroded into unique formations that create a mesmerizing array of colors. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, this area offers a glimpse into its historical significance as a caravan route used by the Incas and a commercial path during the colonial era.
Arrive in Purmamarca and marvel at the breathtaking Cerro de Los Siete Colores (Seven-Color Hill), a prominent natural formation overlooking the town—a perfect spot for memorable photographs. Wander through the charming village, visit the small church, and explore the local handicraft market.
Next, travel to Tilcara to visit the archaeological museum and the town square. Make a stop at a scenic viewpoint to view pre-Incan ruins, then continue through Huacalera to see the colorful La Pollera de la Coya formation and 17th-century paintings in Uquía.
Enjoy a lunch stop in Humahuaca (lunch not included) and explore the Monument of Independence, the local cathedral, and paintings from the Cuzco School.
On the return journey to Salta, take in incredible landscapes such as La Paleta del Pintor (the Painter’s Palette) and stop in San Salvador de Jujuy to visit the town’s cathedral, the French Baroque–style Flag’s Hall, and the Government House. Arrive in Salta late in the evening.
