Are you ready to enjoy the best of Uruguay with RipioTurismo?
Upon arrival in Colonia, possibly via ferry from Buenos Aires, transfer to your hotel for check-in. We’ll then begin our exploration of one of Uruguay’s most incredible destinations. Colonia de Sacramento, founded by the Portuguese and contested for a century, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1995. The old town has been beautifully restored, offering visitors charming cobblestone streets, tranquility, museums, and rich history. Colonia is also known for its excellent gastronomy.
Our city tour will include the historic district, featuring the Citadel Gate, the famous Calle de Los Suspiros, the lighthouse, the church known as “Basílica del Santísimo Sacramento,” and the old bullring. Following the tour, you’ll have free time to explore the city on your own before returning to the hotel for the night.
After breakfast, transfer to the bus station for a ride to Montevideo, the capital city of Uruguay. Montevideo, a beautiful and serene city on the banks of the Rio de la Plata, boasts landscaped neighborhoods, rich architectural heritage, and a stunning seafront known as “La Rambla.” This city is one of the most attractive and visited in South America.
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel, and then embark on a city tour to explore Montevideo’s highlights: Independence Square, the Old City, El Prado Neighborhood, the Parliament House, Tres Cruces, Battle Park, and the Rambla for some great photos. After the tour, enjoy some free time. We recommend trying a local “Chivito” to taste the fantastic local cuisine. Overnight in Montevideo.
After breakfast, we’ll set off for a full-day visit to one of South America’s most famous beach destinations: Punta del Este. This renowned seaside village offers spectacular beaches, urban luxury, and a vibrant entertainment scene. We’ll also visit Piriápolis, including an ascent to Cerro San Antonio, Punta Ballena to see Casapueblo, Brava and Mansa beaches, and key neighborhoods such as Hollywood, Maldonado, and downtown. Enjoy some free time to relax on the beach and photograph the iconic hand sculpture in the sand. Return to Montevideo for the night.
After breakfast, enjoy some free time until your transfer to the airport or ferry station. If time allows, you can choose from a variety of optional activities.
