Discover some of Rio de Janeiro’s most iconic landmarks on a scenic tram ride across the Lapa Aqueduct (“Arcos da Lapa”) from Downtown to the charming hilltop district of Santa Teresa. Along the way, visit the Ruins Park, Selarón Steps, Passeio Público, Cinelândia, and the historic Confeitaria Colombo.
Begin your tour in the city center (“Centro”), where you’ll board the traditional tram (“bondinho”) to Santa Teresa, known for its bohemian vibe. The Lapa Arches, one of Rio’s most recognized postcards, originally served as an aqueduct bringing water from the hills to the city below.
Start your morning with pick-up from selected hotels in Rio de Janeiro’s South Zone, including Copacabana, Leme, Ipanema, and Leblon. The tour operates from Tuesday to Sunday and begins at 9:00 AM.
Your experience begins in downtown Rio, where you will take the traditional tram, known locally as the bondinho, toward the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa. The ride crosses the Arcos da Lapa, the historic aqueduct once used to carry water from Santa Teresa to the city center and now one of Rio’s most recognizable landmarks.
In Santa Teresa, walk through a neighborhood known for its narrow cobblestone streets, artistic atmosphere, historic architecture, and privileged hillside location. The area has become one of Rio’s most distinctive cultural districts.
You will visit Parque das Ruínas, a public park and art gallery built around the ruins of an old mansion. Please note that Parque das Ruínas is closed on Mondays. From there, take in views of downtown Rio and Sugarloaf Mountain.
The tour continues to the colorful Selarón Steps, one of Rio de Janeiro’s most famous attractions, before reaching the traditional district of Lapa. Then, walk through Paseo Público, the oldest public park in South America, on the way to Cinelândia, an area known for its cultural attractions, restaurants, and historic buildings. In this area, you will see landmarks such as the Municipal Theater and the National Library.
Your final stop will be Confeitaria Colombo, one of Rio’s most prestigious historic cafés. Please note that Confeitaria Colombo is closed on Sundays. There, you can admire its Art Nouveau decoration, stained glass, tiles, and mirrors imported from France, Portugal, and Belgium. Food and drinks are available for purchase, including traditional Brazilian snacks and desserts.

Yes, pick up and drop off included. Pick-up and drop-off from hotels in Rio de Janeiro’s South Zone (Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, Leme) and West Zone (Barra da Tijuca); if pick-up is not possible at your location, you will be sent to the closest pick-up spot.
