Wineries in Cafayate

Wineries in Cafayate

One of the greatest attractions in Cafayate is visiting its wineries, discovering the production process of Torrontés wine, and enjoying tastings or pairings in breathtaking surroundings. Whether you’re looking to stay among the vineyards, join a guided tour, or simply savor a good glass of wine, Cafayate offers plenty of options.

Here are some of the most important wineries in the area that you can visit during your stay:

Etchart Winery

Bodegas Etchart is a pioneer in wine production in the Cafayate Valley. Founded in 1850 and acquired in 1938 by Arnaldo Etchart, the winery became one of the most traditional in Argentina. In 1996, it was purchased by the French group Pernod Ricard, who modernized the facilities and boosted production. Today, it owns 360 hectares of vineyards and is located just south of Cafayate on National Route 40.

El Esteco Winery

Founded in 1892 by French Basques, El Esteco is one of Argentina’s most prestigious and innovative wineries. It produces recognized labels such as Don David, Elements, and Altimvs. With 470 hectares of vineyards and a charming colonial building, the estate also hosts the Patios de Cafayate hotel. Tastings are available without reservations, and guided thematic tours can be booked in advance.

Mounier Winery (Finca Las Nubes)

Bodega José L. Mounier is a boutique, family-owned winery located in the Divisadero area, at 1,850 meters above sea level. With 25 hectares of hand-tended vines, it produces small-batch wines with artisanal care. You can also enjoy local cuisine on-site with prior reservation.

Nanni Winery

Bodega Nanni is known for its certified organic wines and its long family history dating back to 1897. The grapes come from a century-old farm east of Cafayate. Since 1996, it has maintained full organic certification, producing wine with natural, eco-friendly methods. The winery is conveniently located just one block from the main square in downtown Cafayate.

Quara Winery

Finca Quara is part of Bodegas Lavaque and is run by Pancho Lavaque, part of the family’s fifth generation of winemakers. It offers a diverse wine portfolio, from premium labels to youthful, accessible varietals, making it a great stop for any wine enthusiast.

Vasija Secreta Winery

Possibly the oldest winery in the Cafayate Valley, Vasija Secreta is housed in the historic Casa Córdova y Murga, just a few blocks from the town center. Though modernized over the years, it retains its colonial architecture and continues producing wine from its own centuries-old vineyards.

Location Map

Most wineries in Cafayate are located close to the town center, making them easy to visit. Use a location map to plan your winery tour and make the most of your time in this wine capital of the Northwest.
