Rio Animal Tour: BioParque do Rio & AquaRio
Visit the main educational, research, and conservation facilities for biodiversity in Rio de Janeiro, BioParque do Rio and AquaRio – Rio Marine Aquarium, to see the major terrestrial and aquatic animal species from Brazil and around the world.
Start your tour in the direction of Quinta da Boa Vista, situated in the historic Sao Cristóvão neighborhood, where the Royal Family used to reside. Visit the BioParque do Rio, a newly renovated and modernized version of the Rio Zoo, where animals no longer live in cages but rather in environments created with their well-being in mind.
More than 1,000 animals from 140 different species can be found at BioParque, which is divided into sections like Imersão Tropical (Tropical Immersion), Vila dos Répteis (Reptile Village), Horto (Vegetable Garden), Reis da Selva (Kings of the Jungle), Asiáticos (Asians), Sumatra, Savana Africana (African Savanna), Carnívoros (Carnivores), Cerrado (Brazilian Savanna), Ilha dos Primatas (Primate Island), Polinizadores (Pollinators) and Jardim Burle Marx (Burle Marx Garden). The Fazendinha (Little Farm), an additional activity (separate ticket sold inside the park), allows visitors to interact safely with farm animals by petting, feeding and touching them.
Visit AquaRio next, South America’s largest marine aquarium. 28 saltwater tanks house more than 5,000 animals representing 350 different species worldwide. An enormous variety of fish, invertebrates, rays, sharks, and corals will be visible up close, and you may even get the chance to interact with them. Inside the main tank tunnel, where animals will pass over you, you can take all the pictures you want! A family-friendly show about the natural world!
The aquarium is situated in the Porto Maravilha neighborhood, a completely revitalized city port area that is home to Rio de Janeiro’s newest tourist attractions. Following the visit, you can decide whether you want to explore on your own or return with us to your hotel.

No age restriction. Although, minors under 18 years old must present ID or passport and be accompanied by an adult. Children 2 and younger are complimentary, provided they do not occupy a seat.

Yes. Hotel pick-up and drop-off from hotels in South Zone (Botafogo, Copacabana, Leme, Ipanema, Leblon) are included. No pickup for hostels or B&B’s.
