Wineries in Cafayate: Etchart Winery
A pioneer winery in the production of wines in the Cafayate Valley. With a rich history dating back to 1850, Bodegas Etchart is one of the most traditional and historic wineries in Argentina. Arnaldo Etchart gave the company its name when he acquired the original estate in 1938. In 1996 it was acquired by the French group Pernod Ricard, who gave it a new impetus with significant investments. Today the company has 360 hectares of vineyards. Bodegas Etchart is located a few kilometers south of Cafayate, on National Route 40.

El Esteco de Cafayate Winery is one of the oldest, most prestigious and innovative in Argentina. With a rich history dating back to its founding by two French Basques in 1892, El Esteco holds a special place in the history of Argentine wine. It produces the famous Don David, Elements and Altimvs labels, among others, which cover almost all of the most popular varietals.
Bodega El Esteco has 470 hectares of its own vineyards. Its name comes from an ancient legend that assumed the existence of a northern city covered in gold and silver, but which was buried in 1692 as a result of a great earthquake.
The property houses the luxurious Patios de Cafayate hotel, and the winery occupies a beautiful colonial building. Tastings can be carried out without prior reservation, while guided tours, with reservation, are offered with numerous options and there is the possibility of organizing thematic visits that include contact with the vineyards and the manufacturing process. It is located at the entrance to Cafayate, a few meters from the junction of Routes 40 and 68.

Bodega José L. Mounier and Finca Las Nubes is a completely family-owned boutique wine business. With its 25 hectares of vineyards in the Divisadero area, southwest of the center of Cafayate and at an altitude of 1850 meters, Bodega Mounier produces its limited selection of wines by hand with an artisanal elaboration worthy of the passion of the owner José L. Mounier. In addition to visits to the farm, you can enjoy the best cuisine with prior reservation.

Bodega Nanni boasts a rich family history in Cafayate producing certified organic wines. The winery was founded in 1897 by Italian immigrants and is still under the control of their descendants today. The grapes come from his century-old San José de Chimpa farm, ten kilometers east of Cafayate. Since 1996 the winery holds the Full Organic certification, producing its products with natural processes with special care for the environment and soils. Bodega Nanni is located in the heart of Cafayate, one block from the main square.

Vasija Secreta is possibly the oldest winery in the Cafayate Valley. Antigua Bodega Vasija Secreta occupies the property of Casa Córdova y Murga, a historic building a few blocks from the center of Cafayate. Through the years the place has been expanded and modernized but still preserves the typical colonial architecture of the Cafayate Valley. From its own centuries-old vineyards Vasija Secreta produces a variety of quality varietals.

Bodega Peña Veyrat Durbex is a boutique winery with a focus on high-end wines with a limited production. It is located eighteen kilometers from Cafayate on the nine-hectare farm from where the grapes for production come from. In addition to visits, the winery is open for tastings, lunches and snacks. You can stay on site at the La Casa de la Bodega hotel.
