What to See in Jujuy, When to Go, and What the Weather Is Like
If you’re planning a trip to the Argentine Northwest, you’ve likely noticed that many of the region’s top attractions are in the province of Jujuy. However, most travel programs start from the city of Salta in the neighboring province.
This is mainly because:
-
Salta has better international recognition
-
It offers more developed tourist infrastructure
-
There are more frequent flights arriving weekly
That makes Salta a popular starting point for international travelers. But Jujuy is absolutely worth visiting, and in some cases, it’s even closer to the main attractions.
So, one great option is to start in Salta, visit places like Cafayate or enjoy the Train to the Clouds, and then move on to Jujuy. From there, you can easily explore:
-
Quebrada de Humahuaca and its colorful villages like Purmamarca, Tilcara, Humahuaca, and Huacalera
-
The Salinas Grandes (Salt Flats)
-
The stunning Hornocal, also known as the Hill of 14 Colors
