You can walk to Buenos Aires. The weather is great and there are many interesting places to enjoy this city on your own, or escorted by our guide.

WALKING TOURS IN BUENOS AIRES
WALKING LA BOCA

La Boca is one of the most visited areas of Buenos Aires and offers tourists a glimpse of how the city looked during its “golden era” in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Indeed, La Boca, as the former main port, was instrumental in the city’s economic and population booms. The neighbourhood retains many fine examples of architecture from the time and is home to the Caminito open air museum and the famous Boca Juniors football club.

WALKING SAN TELMO

Another great option is to walk in San Telmo Area. Antique lovers are in for a treat with a visit to San Telmo. One of the main attractions here is Calle Defensa, a long pedestrianized street lined with stores selling a dizzying array of antiques, paintings, clothes and jewelry. One of the best times to visit is on a Sunday when the popular market takes over, with hundreds of stalls and venders populating the street. As you browse, you’ll be entertained by a colorful mix of street performers and tango dancers. There are even more antique buying opportunities in the cobblestone side streets leading off Calle Defensa.

At the heart of San Telmo is Plaza Dorrego, the second oldest plaza in the city. Come here for its restaurants, cafés and tango performers and to rummage through the unique antique stores. The Sunday market also extends to the square. Leave some room in your shopping bags for a visit to San Telmo Market, the neighborhood’s vast indoor market, housed in a wrought iron hall. It’s loud and lively and sells everything from fresh fruit, meats and vegetables to antiques, trinkets, and handicrafts.

WALKING CORRIENTES AVENUE

Another great area to explore is Avenida Corrientes (Corrientes Avenue), plenty of great pizza restaurantes called “pizzerias”. The area runs through Microcentro, the financial district, across the pedestrian shopping street, Calle Florida, and by the Obelisco. There are countless bookshops, cafés, pubs, theatres, and shops along its edges.

WALKING RECOLETA

In Recoleta you also can enjoy a wonderful walking tour. You can visit the Recoleta Cemetery which is a place of rest for the rich, famous, and powerful of Argentina. You’ll find impressive, ornate mausoleums packed tightly in this little corner of the city where you can wander for hours amidst a maze of the family graves. You can see the Eva Perón’s tomb, where people still leave flowers and tributes. Just few steps from there, take a look to the Basilica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar.

Also in Recoleta, the market takes place on Saturdays and Sundays near the famous cemetery. It’s filled with “hippie” crafts and works by local artists. There are tons of handmade goods, silver jewelry, pottery, leather, mate gourds, and street performers. Relax and have a drink overlooking Plaza Francia at one of the many restaurants and bars, or perhaps sip some mate in the grass surrounding the feria. Walking tour in Buenos Aires

One of them is the MNAD or Museo Nacional de Arte Decorativo. Take a look into what life, architecture, and design looked like within Buenos Aires during the beginning of the 20th century. The museum is located in Recoleta, one of the city’s more exclusive areas, inside the palace of Josefina Alvear and Matías Errázuriz Ortúzar, an aristocratic Argentine family, the c. `1911 building was designed by French architect René Sergent, who also built the Trianon Palace Hotel in Versailles. Interior design junkies, take note: the Dining Room (which seats more than 24 guests) and Ball Room look like small-scale carbon copies of the Versailles Palace, while the Art Deco boudoir (the only room with contemporary aesthetics) was dreamt up by Catalonian artist José María Sert.

Eva Peron, an icon of Buenos Aires
Museo Evita

Another great museum to visit, if you`re interested in this unique personality of the politic in Argentina, is the Museo Evita. Here in residential Belgrano, beyond the typical tourist track, author Enrique Larreta’s former residence has been turned into the city’s only Spanish museum and cultural center. Highlights include a 16th-century Gothic-style altarpiece; Renaissance and Baroque period paintings; and a portrait of Enrique Larreta himself, along with a number of unique Spanish objects, like weapons and swords and hand-carved sculptures.

MALBA Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires

If you haven`t enough time for museums, but you want to choose one, the MALBA could be your choice. It`s a modern building, surrounded by the Palermo parks and ambassadors’ mansions, is known for its permanent collection of famed contemporary Latin American artists, with works by Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, Fernando Botero, Antonio Berni, and Tarsila do Amaral in its arsenal.
