Buenos Aires, called La Reina del Plata, one of the most (maybe the most) European city in South America, is a wonderful destination for your next trip. And the gate to visit from there many incredible places like Iguazu Falls, Patagonia, Mendoza and the Andes, sealife in Peninsula Valdes, Mountains and lakes in Bariloche, Culture and incredible landscapes in the Northwest… and more, much more. Now, as Buenos Aires is a must-see, how is the weather in this city? Is it cold in winter? warm in Summer? Well, let me talk about that.

The city of Buenos Aires has a humid subtropical climate, with a warm temperate climate characterized by hot and humid summers that are occasionally accompanied by thunderstorms and cold, relatively dry winters. December, January, and February are the hottest months with temperatures ranging between 18°C (64.4°F) and 20°C (68°F) at its coldest, and between 28°C (82.4°F) and 30°C (86°F) at its hottest, marking the summer season. Summer records the highest number of sunshine hours per day, totaling an average of nine, and also is the rainiest of all the seasons with the rain gauge collecting an average of 114.3mm (4.5″).

Winter in Buenos Aires is cold and chilly, and its temperatures go as low as 7°C (44.6°F) on the coldest days and up to 15°C (59°F) on the warmest days. The sun stills come through, but generally, it remains crisp and relatively dry through winter falling between June and August. Rainfall in winter can collect up to 58.4mm (2.3″).

TEMPERATURES IN BUENOS AIRES

Buenos Aires is located on the shore of Rio de la Plata, and humidity is one of the characteristics of the city. But what about temperatures? Well, we have hot days during December, January and February and most “porteños” go to the province of Buenos Aires coast and the city is very nice to be visited without crows. HUMIDITY IN BUENOS AIRES

Buenos Aires is a humid place. You can take note of that, if you came from Patagonia for example, and arrive to the airport. Humidity is in the skin instantly. Take a look at the image below:

RAINFALL IN BUENOS AIRES

And what about rain? Well, we have rainy days in Buenos Aires, more during Summer Season, it`s from October to March approx.

Ok, but what`s exactly in days, this 168 mm in January or this 54 mm in June? Well, in January these 168 mm are divided in 9.5 days, and the 54 mm in June in 7 days… So, we can expect some big storms during summer and moderated rains during winter. :

 

 

DAYLIGHT IN BUENOS AIRES

Again, daylight is important. You will walk and walk Buenos Aires. There are many places to see, and of course, summer season is the best time to enjoy daylight with 14.2 hs in January for example, versus 10 hours of daylight during winter (June-July-August).

UV INDEX IN BUENOS AIRES

Lastly, but not less important, is the UV index. As you will be walking the city, if you visit Buenos Aires in summer, take note of the high level of UV. Sunscreen is necessary to avoid sun damage in your skin:

 

 

 

BEST TIME TO VISIT BUENOS AIRES

That`s the question. What`s the best season to visit Buenos Aires? Well, let me say all the year. It`s what I think because summer is hot, but with extended daylight and it`s fantastic. And winter is really moderated. So, the weather is not a problem in Buenos Aires, don`t worry about that.  Now, you want to know what`s the best season to visit Buenos Aires from the numbers, from the result of the statistics and weather numbers?  Spring. Spring in Buenos Aires is the best time to visit the city – just in time for the blooming of the beautiful Jacaranda trees for example. This season is characterized by mild temperatures within the range of 15.6°C (60.1°F) and 26.7°C (80.1°F) and tolerable rainfall averaging 78.7mm (3.1″) to 139.7mm (5.5″). September is wonderful, and also October.  This is the best time to indulge in outdoor activities and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of blooming flowers everywhere, which makes the city appear like a flower bed.
