Full Day Tour to Osorno Volcano
Pick up from your hotel in Puerto Varas or Puerto Montt. We will visit the Osorno Volcano located on the shores of Lake Llanquihue. The landscape is incredible, with the volcanoes Osorno and Calbuco overlooking the lake. Osorno Volcano is a 2,652-metre tall conical stratovolcano. The volcano is known worldwide as a symbol of the local landscape and is noted for its similar appearance to Mount Fuji.
Osorno is one of the most active volcanoes of the southern Chilean Andes, with 11 historical eruptions recorded between 1575 and 1869. The basalt and andesite lava flow generated during these eruptions reached both Llanquihue and Todos Los Santos Lakes. The upper slopes of the volcano are almost entirely covered in glaciers despite its very modest altitude and latitude, sustained by the substantial snowfall in the very moist maritime climate of the region.
Osorno sits on top of a 250,000-year-old eroded stratovolcano, La Picada, with a 6-km-wide caldera. Once in Ensenada where we will ascend to the Ski Centre of Osorno, located at 1.240 meters. We will stop here for around 60 minutes, to take some good photos, walk a bit, and see a unique view of the Osorno, the Calbuco, the Llanquihue Lake, and also the Pacific Ocean. Awesome! There is a lift to ascend to the 1760 meters, where you can enjoy a unique view of the lake and the area. The chairlift is not included in the price. A bit more time for you, before return to the vehicle for your transfer back to your hotel in Puerto Montt or Puerto Varas
