Huasco Coastal Desert and Ancient Olive Groves
The experience begins with departure from Vallenar, traveling toward the coastal desert of the Huasco Province, an area known for its natural beauty and olive oil production.
The first stop is the historic village of Freirina, recognized for its cultural heritage, charming streets, and national monuments.
The journey continues to Llanos de Challe National Park, where participants take part in a guided walk of approximately 2 km. During the walk, visitors explore the local ecosystem, observing desert vegetation, geological formations, and potentially wildlife such as guanacos, foxes, lizards, and birds.
Around midday, the tour includes a lunch stop at a fishermen’s pier before continuing to the Centenary Olive Groves. Here, travelers walk among ancient olive trees while learning about traditional cultivation methods, olive harvesting, and olive oil production. The visit concludes with a tasting of olives and olive oil.
On the return journey, participants have free time to visit local shops, where regional and traditional products are available.
The excursion concludes with the return to Vallenar, ending with hotel drop-off.
