Set off early for a full-day adventure to Peninsula Valdés, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999 and one of Patagonia’s most iconic wildlife destinations. After a one-hour drive, we arrive at the eco-village of Puerto Pirámides, where you’ll have the chance to join an optional boat tour (not included) to watch southern right whales between June and November, or sea lions and cormorants from December to March. No navigation is available between April and mid-June.
Lunch (not included) is scheduled in Puerto Pirámides or Caleta Valdés, depending on the day’s route. We continue through the southern section of the peninsula, passing expansive grasslands, salt flats, and the remote coast of Punta Cantor. There, you’ll take in the dramatic Atlantic shoreline and the unique geological site of Caleta Valdés—often visited by southern elephant seals, the largest seals on Earth. According to the season and marine wildlife activity, this portion may be replaced with a visit to Punta Norte.
Before returning to Puerto Madryn, we’ll stop at the Carlos Ameghino Interpretation Center, offering insight into the region’s rich biodiversity. Along the way, expect to encounter native land species such as guanacos, rheas, foxes, maras, armadillos, and skunks.
Duration: 9–10 hours
Distance: Approx. 400 km (mix of paved and gravel roads)
Highlights: Optional whale watching or boat tour, marine mammals, Patagonian wildlife, and breathtaking coastal views.

Whale watching tours take place from mid-June through November. Outside of this period, other boat trips may be available, or navigation is suspended.
