Which are the most important destinations to visit in Uruguay?

Well, Uruguay is small country, but there are at least three destinations that are very interesting for the international tourist. Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, is an important city in the Bay of Montevideo. It is located around the Plaza de la Independencia, where there was once a Spanish citadel. The square connects to the Old City, with art deco buildings, colonial houses, and iconic landmarks such as the towering Palacio Salvo and the neoclassical Solís Theater. The old Mercado del Puerto is full of restaurants to taste meat. Another great place to be visited, is Colonia de Sacramento, a UNESCO World Heritage. Colonia del Sacramento is a city located on the other side of the Río de la Plata from Buenos Aires. It is known for its Historic Quarter with cobblestone streets surrounded by buildings dating from the time it was a Portuguese settlement. Above the historic district is the 19th century Colonia del Sacramento Lighthouse, with panoramic views of the river. Nearby, is the Portón de Campo, which corresponds to the remains of the old city walls. Finally, Punta del Este is a highlight in Uruguay. Punta del Este is a beach resort located on a narrow peninsula in the southeast of Uruguay. The popular Brava beach is known for its strong waves and for “La mano”, a giant 5-finger sculpture. On the west coast, Mansa Beach has calm and shallow waters. In Plaza Artigas, near the exclusive shops of Avenida Gorlero, local handicrafts are sold. The 19th-century lighthouse at the southern tip of the peninsula has an observation deck
