What to see in Fernando de Noronha
Fernando de Noronha is an incredible paradise, where ecotourism, nature and adventure activities are the main attraction. Take a look to some great things you can do in this wonderful place of Brazil.
Marinho National Park
The Marinho National Park in Fernando de noronha, covers a 75% of the main island and all the surrounding sea. This amazing place contains most of the archipelago’s must-see sights including its three best beaches and all of the secondary islands. Entry to the park is valid for 10 days only! and the fee can be paid in cash or by credit card. For up to 10 days the charge higher for foreigners.
Baia do Sancho
This is an incredible remote beache, with fine sands, with emerald green waters, untouchable vegetation and fauna. This is Baía do Sancho, the most sought after beach in Fernando de Noronha. Due to its worldwide fame, it often appears on the lists of the most beautiful beaches. It has already been ranked the best on the planet by the TripAdvisor website for two consecutive years. It currently appears in second place.
Praia do Leao
From Praia do Sueste you can get by buggy (5min) or walking (20min) to Praia do Leao, one of the longest, most beautiful and isolated on the island. We love to walk, sunbathe and enjoy the beautiful view of the islands in front of it. It is also a turtle spawning sanctuary (from December to June). That is why they do not allow people to stay on the beach after 6:00 p.m., since that is when the turtles come to lay their eggs. It is important that you respect the indications of the beach, especially in those points where it is indicated that there are eggs. If you go by buggy, you can also go to the Forte do Sueste. It is not that it is wonderful, but it is curious and has good views (if you are walking it is not worth it).
Baia dos Porcos
A rare jewel of surprising nature, the “Baía dos Porcos” is located in the “Marinho National Park”, in Fernando de Noronha, and disputes the hearts of its visitors with the neighboring “Baía do Sancho”.
The beach is very picturesque, it is only 100m long and has many dark stones of volcanic origin, which at low tide form natural pools of transparent waters sheltering various colored fish. To appreciate the place more, take a snorkel and observe the rich marine life, with the right to dive with the turtles, rays and starfish.
This area of small proportions and of inestimable natural beauty, is under the shadow of a great 30-meter cliff and its landscape is still completed by the “Morro Dois Irmãos”, which leaves the scenery even more enchanting.
The site is not easily accessible, however its beauty is surely worth the effort.
Forte Nossa Senhora dos Remédios
Easily the best preserved of the island’s Portuguese forts, Forte dos Remédios is well worth a visit and has great views from its hilltop above Vila dos Remédios. At the time of writing, the fort was in the middle of a slow restoration process; it’s likely a small admission fee will be charged once it’s complete.
Boat Navigations
There are many boat navigations that offers the opportunity of exploring the waters around Fernando de Noronha as well as beyond the archipelago. Many tour operators and diving charters depart everyday from the Port of Santo Antonio.
Buggy Tours
You can rent a Buggy for a day, to enjoy a really fun way to explore the island of Fernando de Noronha, this part of Brazil is famous for their exciting buggy tours. With your own buggy you can explore all the backroads, and places that lie of the beaten track.
Dolphin Watching
In the Dolphins Bay you can see the Dolphins in the wild. It`s important to go early in the morning around 6:00 o’clock. Bay of Dolphins is part of the Fernando de Noronha National Marine Park. You will be surprised by a large group of spinning dolphins that breed at Baia dos Golfinhos. These smart and playful mammals can leap high out of the water and spin in the air. This is one of the rare locations on earth where there are actual colonies for breeding dolphins.
Diving in Fernando de Noronha
Diving and snorkelling are excellent activities to do in Fernando de Noronha. With pleasant winds and underwater visibility of up to 50 meters, this spot is a diver, surfer and snorkelers paradise no matter what level you are in. Marine life is rich and teeming in the area with hundreds of species of fishes, and several species of dolphins, sharks, and sea turtles.
Praia da Atalaia is a great snorkeling destination that offers tide pools that contain an amazing diversity of marine wildlife that include octopuses, lobsters, small sharks and many species of fish. Snorkeling at Praia da Atalaia is now somewhat limited and you need to register before.
