Ushuaia is a wonderful place in Patagonia, a place full of unique landscapes, national parks, trekking activities, snow, winter activities, fauna watching, and starting point for cruises to Cape Horn and Antarctica for example. The summer season is perfect for outdoor activities in Ushuaia. Trekkings, boat navigations, horseback ridings and many other adventure activities. It´s perfect also for penguins watching because the colonies of Martillo Island and Gable Island in the Beagle Channel are crowded. So, a good idea is to take a boat navigation on the Beagle Channel. It´s also great for cruises to the mythical Cape Horn and glaciers and fjords in southern Patagonia, and to the amazing white continent of Antarctica. Days are long, with a great daylight and sunshine.

Ushuaia in March: What to see and what to do?

March is also great for outdoor activities and less crowded than January and February. Some prices are lower now so we´re talking aboug a shoulder season, mostly in the second part of March. What´s the best season to visit Ushuaia?

When planning a trip to the End of the World there are several aspects to take into account. Undoubtedly, the time when you are going to travel to Ushuaia is a decisive factor. That depends on the clothes you have to pack and the excursions and activities you can do. Ushuaia is one of the places that varies the most depending on the time of year. Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world and the climate is a factor that you must take into account. Each season of the year is lived in a unique and special way. In winter, activities with snow stand out and in summer, hiking trails. For this reason, Ushuaia can be visited throughout the year but each season has its characteristics.

Depending on the season, temperatures, weather, and the number of hours of sunlight vary. In summer it dawns at 4 AM and sunset after 10 PM. In winter, on the other hand, there are only 7 hours of light. The flora and fauna also varies, in this link we share more information about the sighting of animals and unique species in Ushuaia.

Natural landscapes obviously vary according to the season. In autumn (March – June) everything turns red and yellow (like, for example, Tierra del Fuego National Park) and the landscapes are simply idyllic. Depending on the time of year, you can enjoy certain activities and excursions and not others. For this reason, as we said, in winter (June to September) you will find all the ski centers working since the snow in Ushuaia is one of the best in Latin America. In winter, too, it is possible to go sledding, snowshoeing, and night-time explorations. Here we share some suggested activities to do in winter.

September -March period is the ideal time for outdoor activities, especially considering that the days are long and the weather is very pleasant. Be it navigations, walks or excursions in the Tierra del Fuego National Park, the nature of Ushuaia will fascinate you.
