How to get to Ushuaia?

Ushuaia is the southernmost city in the world, and you can arrive to this capital city of Tierra del Fuego Province by air, by sea or by bus.

 

Arriving to Ushuaia by air

The usual arrival to Ushuaia, is by air. The local airport is called Malvinas Argentinas International Airport and it`s located 5 Km from town.  This is an airport inaugurated in 1995. It has a 3000 m long track, day and night air navigation systems, and a modern service infrastructure ready to receive any type of aircraft, from the smallest to the most modern Boeing or Air Bus crafts.
Ushuaia receives many flights from Aeroparque Jorge Newbery, and Ezeiza International Airport Ministro Pistarini. Ushuaia is located 3 hours flight and you have an average of 6 to 12 flights, depending on the season. During summer, there are more frequencies due to the high season.

 

 

Arriving to Ushuaia by sea

Another way to reach Ushuaia is by sea. The summer season welcomes thousands of passengers on board of cruise ships and other ships coming to visit the city. The city is gate to visit the incredible white continent of Antarctica, but also receive cruises from Chile. The Australis Cruise visiting the Cape Horn departs from Punta Arenas during summer season to arrive to Ushuaia.

 

Arriving to Ushuaia by land

Ushuaia is located in the Island of Tierra del Fuego (Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego) and it`s separated from the rest of the continent by the Strait of Magellan which belongs to Chilean territory. So, if you arrive by land, would be crossing from Chile to Argentina, by car or buses that departs from Punta Arenas to reach Ushuaia in a 12-hour ride.
