We prepared an interesting month by month view of which animals can be see in Peninsula Valdes and the area depending the month of the year. It`s a useful tool, because activities in the area can be differerent depending seasons for each animals. For example, is it possible to see penguins in September if I visit the Peninsula? And what about whales? Can be mother and carf be seen in Doradillo beach in December or it`s too late to see them? What about birds if you`re a birds lover? Can be seen all the time? Which animals can I see in Peninsula Valdes in January. What to expect in January?

Well, January is summer time in Argentina and southern hemisphere, with maximum temperatures around 28ºC (celcius), low levels of humidity and low number of rainy days. So, it`s a good weather time. But it`s also good for animals? Well, yes. You have sea penguins… many of them, lions, sea elephants, birds of course, dolphins… but no whales. So, it`s a good time yes, but you cannot see to the queen of the area which is the whale, but penguin colonies in one of the best moments in the year.

 

Which animals can I see in Peninsula Valdes in February. What to expect in February?

February is summer in Argentina, and the area has a maximum temperature of 27ºC (celcius), low levels of humidity and aceptable number of rainy days. So, it`s a good weather time. This is a good time to enjoy sealife in Peninsula Valdes, we have penguins… two great colonies in Punta Tombo and San Lorenzo, lions, sea elephants, a wide variety of birds, commersons`dolphins or toninas. Of course, it`s not the time for whales, but it`s a good time with penguin colonies in one of the best moments to be visited:

March is the last portion of the summer time in the area, and beginnings of the Autumn. Temperatures are a bit lower now, with a maximum average of 24ºC (celcius), low levels of humidity and 16 days of rainy days. It`s a good weather time and also good for watching the incredible sealife in Peninsula Valdes. You will find penguins in Punta Tombo and San Lorenzo, colonies full of sea lions, sea elephants, commersons`dolphins or toninas and many birds in the area. Of course, it`s not the time for whales, but it`s a good time with penguin colonies in one of the best moments to be visited. And the Orca, can be seen in the area of Punta Norte, it`s not easy and can be guaranteed, but they usually arrives to the area in March.

April is autumn, and temperatures are a bit lower than Jan and Feb, but still good, with averages of 20ºC (celcius) average, and good levels of humidity around 56%. You can expect 12.6 days of rain which is good for the area. So, it`s a good weather time and also good for watching the incredible sealife in Peninsula Valdes. You will find penguins in Punta Tombo and San Lorenzo but not all of them as you can see in summer. You also can enjoy sea elephants, commersons`dolphins or toninas and many birds in the area. Of course, it`s not the time for whales yet, but Orcas, can be seen in the area of Punta Norte, it`s not easy and can be guaranteed, but they can be seen in April.

 

 

Which animals can I see in Peninsula Valdes in May. What to expect in May?

Autumn is in the peak in May. Temperatures continue going down, but the sea effect makes that average temperatures keep nice for visiting the area. Of course, not summer temperatures, but you will find an average of 16ºC (celcius), and levels of humidity around 60%. What about the rain… well, it`s the rainy month by excellence. You can expect 23-24 days of rain. What about animals? Well, penguins decided to leave the area until September, but there are some animals that can be seen like elephant seals, sea lions, commersons`dolphins or toninas and many birds in the area. We have to wait a bit more for the whales, that cannot be seen in the area during May which is the month, that it`s the worst season to visit the area.

 

Which animals can I see in Peninsula Valdes in June. What to expect in June?

June is the beginning of the winter (and also last portion of Autumn). Temperatures continue going down with minimum of 3 and maximum of 13ºC (celcius), and levels of humidity around 65%. What about the rain… well, better than May, with 14.1 days in the month, which is a good number. What about sealife? Well, the queen arrives to the area. Yes, first whales arrive to the area and can be seen in the coast in places like Doradillo Beach and Peninsula Valdes. No penguins during June, at least during September colonies of Punta Tombo and San Lorenzo are not an option. Yoiu can still see some elephant seals, sea lions, commersons`dolphins or toninas in Rawson Bay and many birds in the area. It`s a good time to visit the area? Yes, the whale is the main attraction!

 

Which animals can I see in Peninsula Valdes in July. What to expect in July?

July is winter and usually time for holiday season for argentine travellers, so you can find a bit more number of people than June and August. Temperatures continues similar with minimum of 3 and maximum of 13ºC (celcius), and levels of humidity around 60%. You can expect 16 of rain in the month, not bad. Regarding sealife, whales and carves are still in the area of Doradillo to be enjoyed in an unforgettable experience. So, we have whales there and in the area of Peninsula Valdes. No penguins during July, they will return in September to colonies of Punta Tombo and San Lorenzo. We also have some elephant seals, sea lions, commersons`dolphins or toninas in Rawson Bay and many birds in the area. It`s a good time to visit the area? Yes, may be the best season to enjoy whales and carves very close from the coastline!

 

 

Which animals can I see in Peninsula Valdes in August. What to expect in August?

Still winter of course, with low temperatures around 3 and maximum of 14ºC. Humiidity levels will be around 60% and you can expect one of the lower levels of rain in the season, with only 10 days, not bad. Regarding sealife, you can still enjoy the unique show of whales and carves. So again, we have whales in El Doradillo Beach and in the area of Peninsula Valdes. No penguins now, they will return in September to colonies of Punta Tombo and San Lorenzo. You also can enjoy some elephant seals, sea lions, commersons`dolphins or toninas in Rawson Bay and many birds in the area. It`s a good time to visit the area? Yes, one of the best seasons to enjoy whales and carves from Doradillo Beach!

 

Which animals can I see in Peninsula Valdes in September. What to expect in September?

Spring is coming, and with this unique season, new animals to the area. Temperatures will be in order of 17ºC maximum. Humiidity levels will be around 58% and you can expect 14 days of rain during September. Regarding sealife, you can still enjoy the unique show of whales and carves in Doradillo, but it`s the last portion in the season. Whales start to go to Peninsula Valdes and can be seen there from boat navigations which are amazing. First penguin arrives to the colonies of Punta Tombo and Peninsula Valdes, and you also can see elephant seals, sea lions, commersons`dolphins or toninas in Rawson Bay and many birds in the area. It`s a good time to visit the area? Yes, definitely one of the best because you can see whales, penguins and many sealife in the area.

Good temperatures to visit the area in October. Maximum will be around 20ºC maximum. Humidity levels will be around 59% and you can expect 17 days of rain during September. Whales left definitely Doradillo area where mothers and carves syated since June, and moved to Peninsula Valdes, where can be seen there from many boat navigations available in Puerto Piramides. Penguins continue arriving to both colonies of Punta Tombo and San Lorenzo in the Peninsula Valdes, and you also can see elephant seals, sea lions, commersons`dolphins or toninas in Rawson Bay and many birds in the area. Orcas can be in the area, but it`s not easy to see them, cannot be guaranteed. It`s a good time to visit the area? Yes, October is one of the best because you can see whales, penguins and many sealife in the area.

 

Which animals can I see in Peninsula Valdes in November. What to expect in November?

Temperatures are still going up, but moderated by the ocean of course. Maximum will be around 24ºC average. Humidity levels will be around 51% and you can expect 10 days of rain during November which is one of the best numbers in the season. Whales are available in the Peninsula Valdes, and can be seen there from many boat navigations available from Puerto Piramides, small village located in the Peninsula. Penguins can be seen in colonies of Punta Tombo and San Lorenzo in the north area of the Peninsula Valdes, and of course you also can see elephant seals, sea lions, commersons`dolphins or toninas and many birds. If you`re lucky, you can see some orcas in Punta Norte, but it`s can be guaranteed! It is one of the best seasons to visit the area, with many penguins, whales and other animals in the Peninsula.

 

Which animals can I see in Peninsula Valdes in December. What to expect in December?

With summer season, temperatures are still going up to an maximum average of 26ºC. Humidity levels will be in the lowel number during the year: 48% only. You can expect 12 days of rain during December which is one of the best numbers in the year and it`s good. Whales are still in Peninsula Valdes, and can be seen there from many boat navigations available from Puerto Piramides, but to the last days of december they start to leave the area until next year. Penguins can be seen in colonies of Punta Tombo and San Lorenzo in the north area of the Peninsula Valdes with one of the larger levels of individuals. It`s a good time to enjoy penguins! You also can see elephant seals, sea lions, commersons`dolphins or toninas and many birds. It is one of the best seasons to visit the area, with many penguins, last whales before they leave and other animals in the Peninsula.
