Tracking the Puma in Torres del Paine – 2 days excursion

This exclusive wildlife experience focuses on tracking the puma, the largest feline in Chile and one of the most iconic species of the American continent. Led by wildlife photographer Miguel Fuentealba, the objective is to observe and photograph the puma responsibly, without disturbing its natural behavior and always respecting established distances and park regulations.

The excursion begins very early, before sunrise, with pickup from your accommodation. Starting times vary according to the season to ensure arrival inside Torres del Paine at the first light of day. From there, the search begins primarily by vehicle, with occasional short and gentle walks on irregular terrain. All tracking is done strictly along public and permitted areas of the National Park, following official guidelines to protect wildlife and travelers.

Throughout the morning, the team scans the terrain for signs of puma activity. Although sightings are highly likely and the tracking experience is guaranteed, pumas are wild animals that roam freely, so encounters or “perfect” photographs can never be fully assured. To increase your chances, a minimum of three days is recommended.

At midday, the group pauses to eat and rest. Three to four hours later, the search resumes, continuing until sunset. While tracking these elusive felines, the guide will also point out stunning landscapes, geological features, birds, and other mammals inhabiting the area.

The day concludes after sunset with the return transfer to your accommodation.
