Full-Day Route of Hotu Matu’a Tour
Your journey begins in the town of Hanga Roa at approximately 9:30 AM, heading toward the South-East coast of the island.
The first stops include Akahanga, an important archaeological site, followed by the impressive quarry of Rano Raraku, where most of the island’s moai were carved. Here you will explore the area where these monumental statues were shaped directly from volcanic rock.
The route continues to Tongariki, home to the island’s largest ceremonial platform with multiple restored moai standing in formation. You will also visit Te Pito Kura and Ahu Nau Nau, both remarkable ceremonial sites that reflect the island’s ancient culture.
The tour concludes at the beautiful beach of Anakena, known for its white sand and archaeological significance.
Around 5:30 PM, you will return to Hanga Roa and be dropped off at your accommodation.
Lunch service is provided at the Rano Raraku Restaurant; menu options are available upon request.

Several areas of Rapa Nui National Park are accessible to wheelchair users. However, some sites have uneven trails where wheelchair access may not be possible or recommended. The park has a special wheelchair available mainly for Rano Raraku, Ahu Tongariki, and Orongo Village. It must be requested in advance and is subject to availability.
