Enjoy The Minitrekking, the Ice Trekking over the Perito Moreno Glacier
Pick up is early in the morning from your hotel in El Calafate, and transfer to the national park to start the incredible Minitrekking. Please note, transfers are optional and can be added in the payment process. You also can decide to arrive to the national park at your own.
Once there, the excursion begins in the port “Bajo de las Sombras”, where you embark to cross the Rico Lake, enjoying impressive views of the front wall of the Perito Moreno glacier, Los Glaciares National Park.
After disembarking, get out of the ship. Access is made to the refuge where the guides organize the groups. Services are available in the camp. Then a walk along the lakeshore of approximately 20 minutes to the glacier begins. Upon reaching the edge of the ice, the guides place the crampons on the participants, who receive instructions on how to move on the ice. During the tour of the glacier, you will be able to appreciate a variety of ice formations and the incredible details, such as crevices, seracs, sinkholes, small lagoons, etc. The landscape is very nice! The white and blue colors are unique. The hike is moderate. The ice surface you walk on is uneven, but firm and safe. At the end of the walk, you return to the refuge through the Magellan forest. It´s time for a review of an amazing experience. You will be very impressed.
Then, you will have free time to enjoy the incredible Perito Moreno from the catwalks. Maybe one hour or two, check with our guide. Be ready to take the best photos of the colossus of ice! Return to the hotel around 6.30 pm. The minitrekking is a must, an excursion you should include in your itinerary when you travel to the area.
