Departure from Salta heading north, towards the Quebrada de Humahuaca (Jujuy): World Heritage Site, we will visit the town of Purmamarca, nestled at the foot of the Cerro de los Siete Colores or 7-color hill, the tour continues through Tilcara where you visit its Pucará (old fortress indigenous), now rebuilt, is a palpable example of the splendor of its former inhabitants, the tilcaras. Towards the North, after passing through Huacalera and the Tropic of Capricorn, you arrive at Uquía, which houses one of the most important collections of the famous “Arcabuceros Angels” in its Church, emblematic examples of Cuzco painting. We continue our trips until we reach the city of Humahuaca, the very heart of the Quebrada, where the visitor awaits full of natural, historical and cultural attractions with its narrow and terraced streets,
From here and along a zigzagging dirt road we head towards the imposing gate of Las Serranías del Hornocal also known as 14-color hill. It is located 25 kilometers from the city of Humahuaca, it is a gravel road that leaves tourists on a balcony in front of the majestic hill whose symmetry and color catch the opportune visitor. These magnificent geological formations, impact not only for their shapes and textures but mainly for being composed of a palette of more than 14 colors, which show their richness in minerals and more than 500 million years.
