Best time to visit Iguazu Falls

When Is the Best Time to Visit Iguazu Falls?

Wondering when to visit Iguazu Falls? Is it hot? Humid? Rainy? Will the weather ruin your trip? Don’t worry—we’ve got the answers.

Iguazu Falls is a must-see natural wonder, and the good news is: you can visit it year-round. Let’s take a look at the climate, temperatures, humidity, and rainfall so you can plan your visit with confidence.

Average Temperatures in Iguazu Falls

Iguazu Falls is located in northern Argentina, in a tropical jungle region. Yes, it’s warm and humid, but not in an extreme or uncomfortable way.

During your visit to the National Park, the mist from the waterfalls keeps you cool. You’ll likely enjoy the refreshing spray, especially on warmer days.

Here’s what to expect:

  • Summer (Dec–Feb): 30–32°C

  • Winter (Jun–Aug): 23–25°C

The temperatures are moderate, and both seasons are suitable for exploring the park.

Humidity in Iguazu Falls

Being a rainforest, Iguazu has high humidity levels throughout the year.

  • Highest humidity: May and June – around 84%

  • Summer humidity: around 73–75%

If you don’t mind a little moisture in the air, it won’t be a problem. Just dress light and stay hydrated.

Rainfall in Iguazu Falls

So, is there a rainy season? Not exactly.

Rain can happen anytime in Iguazu Falls. It’s a wet, lush area with millions of liters of water flowing every second. Rain is part of the experience.

Still, most rainfall doesn’t ruin your day. The only time it might affect you is if you booked a full moon walk—those can be canceled if the sky is cloudy.

For regular park visits, rain usually won’t be an issue.

Rainy Days: What to Expect

On average, Iguazu Falls sees about 8 rainy days per month. That number can go up slightly in summer, but the difference isn’t dramatic.

Tip: Bring a light rain jacket or poncho, just in case. Most tours run as planned, rain or shine.

Daylight and Sunshine Hours

Iguazu enjoys good daylight hours year-round:

  • Longer days in summer mean more time to explore.

  • Shorter winter days still offer plenty of sunshine to enjoy the park.

It’s always a good idea to start early, especially if you plan to visit multiple trails in one day.

So, What’s the Best Season to Visit?

Any time of year is a good time to visit Iguazu Falls.

There’s no real weather-related reason to avoid any season. However, we recommend avoiding:

  • Winter break in July – local holidays = big crowds

  • Easter week – high season for Argentine tourism

If you prefer a quieter experience, choose shoulder months like March, May, or September, when the park is less crowded and the weather is still pleasant.

Check the monthly chart below for detailed info about weather patterns, crowd levels, and what to expect—because climate isn’t the only thing that matters when planning your trip!
