The Carretera Austral is one of the most incredible circuits in Chilean Patagonia. An amazing route in the area called Aysen, in Chile. It´s a place for people interested in pure Patagonia, with unique landscapes, lakes, mountains, and glaciers. But today, I will focalize on a wonderful attraction in the area which is the Marble Cathedral.

15 km before arriving to Balmaceda, the Carretera Austral continues to the south to Parque Nacional Cerro Castillo, where attractions are Laguna Chiguay, la Piedra del conde and other rocky formations. Once you arrive at Puerto Tranquilo, a local village with basic services, accommodation, restaurants, and fuel. From there, you can enjoy a wonderful visit to the incredible sanctuary of nature, called Marble Cathedral, a rocky formation made by wind and Lake General Carrera work. There are many chapels and cathedrals, in different areas, with amazing colors over the blue/green color of the lake water.

From there, you can cross to Argentina and continue visiting Patagonia along 40 National Route, from Gobernador Gregores to the south, visiting the Caves of the Hands, Los Antiguos, El Chaltén, and El Calafate.

Thank you,
