Weather in Patagonia: when to go?

Patagonia is a wonderful place to visit and of course, the high season is the best time to go. In general, we talk about the October-March period, as the high season to visit Patagonia, a time when temperatures are pleasant, with a low level of rain and excellent daylight.

In Puerto Madryn and Peninsula Valdes, the average temperatures during summer (it´s December, January, February and March period) is 26°Celcius, with a minimum of only 13°C. Not bad, to enjoy the incredible sealife you can find there, like whales, penguins, orcas, sea lions, elephant seals, and more.

It´s cold morning and nights, but a wonderful climate during the day. Similar situation in Puerto Varas, on the Chilean side of the Lakes District, with maximum average temperatures around 18°celcius and a minimum of 10°celcius

In the southern portion of Patagonia, temperatures are lower. In El Chalte and El Calafate, you will find average maximum temperatures around 17-18°Celcius, with a minimum of 7°C only during the December-March period. A good idea is to bring a comfortable warm coat to enjoy the outdoor activities.
