Several restaurants in the city have spider crabs available so that you can choose the one you like. The spider crabs are freshly taken at least a day ago from the Beagle Channel, and they are placed in a pool with fresh and treated water so that they are well preserved. The truth is that they do not last long since most foreign diners request the spider crab dish, which consists of keeping the spider crab in hot water for a small boil and then served at the table with beautiful scissors to dissect and eat the meat,  white and pink. 4- Visit the Old Prison museum

Ushuaia’s old prison is linked directly with the city’s origins, and also with the Train of the End of the World. The prison was opened in the 19th century, and it was once a remote detention outpost for dangerous offenders and political prisoners shipped from Buenos Aires. In 1947 the prison was closed after reports of abuse and malpractice. Years later it was opened again but as the Maritime Museum of Ushuaia, which still operates today.

The museum details the region’s fascinating history of nautical exploration, shipwrecks, and adventure. It also tells the story of the old prison. One wing of the building is maintained in its original state, so you can walk around and see what the conditions were like for inmates.

Indoors, the severe discipline imposed. Those who had good behavior work performed outside the building as logging in forests to arriving on the train from the city center. Through workshops, prisoners covered all the needs of the emerging city. They built the roads, bridges and public buildings and in the prison ran the first printing press, the telephone, electricity, among other essential services.
