Pick up from your hotel to start a full-day trip to the heart of Easter Island’s historical legacy. The first stop is Ahu Akahanga; explore the enthralling grounds, visiting an 18-meter platform to discover 12 moai statues and the reputed burial ground of King Hoto Matu’a.
After a thorough exploration of the landscape, we will continue along the coastline to Ahu Tongariki, the island’s largest ceremonial site. Enjoy 15 moai sculptures, learning about the violent tsunami that almost destroyed the site in 1960. We will visit the volcanic slopes of Rao Raraku to appreciate the rugged beauty and selection of sculptures. Time for a great hike into the stone pit of the quarry, observing the partially buried torsos and protruding heads of over 300 statues. Free time for lunch (not included) and then continue to the famous site of Ahu Te Pito Kura to see the largest moai statue ever erected; It´s a 9.8 meters tall sculpture that weighs 82 tons and becomes intrigued as our guide directs your attention to around magnetic stone, referred to as the ‘navel of the world.’ After that, we will arrive at our final stop of Anakena after a short and scenic drive; We will enjoy the series of vibrant statues before relaxing upon the silken sands of the beautiful beach. Swim in the crystal clear waters and appreciate the vibrant red of the volcanic rocks before return to the hotel.
